BIO:

Dorothy Hoover is not a perfectionist. She’s more of a throw spaghetti-at-the-wall and see what sticks kinda artist. Chance, circumstance, economy of means, they all play vital roles in the work she creates. She works in a dizzying array of media from theatrical set design to tabletop prop styling, from handmade miniature sculptures to large scale ceramics, performance art to artist books.

Dorothy received her MFA from California Institute of the Arts in Scenic Design but spent half her time in the art school.

Clients include Paper Magazine, Google, Lululemon, What We Do Is Secret, The LA Times, At Large Magazine, and Goodles. She has worked with photographers Chad Pitman, Jennifer Chong, Luke Abby, David Lopez, Linnea Bullion, Lindsay Kreighbaum, Jason Little, and others.

Her designs for the theater have been seen at Boston Court Theatre, REDCAT, LA Mission College Theatre, and About Productions.

Her visual art has been exhibited at Machine Project, Honor Fraser Gallery, and General Projects, among others.
